Report on 17th Student Association Meet on 19th June 2011


We the Student of Salem Chapter of ICSI and proud member of SACS-SALEM have organized the 17th Student Association meet on 19th June 2011.

There was a pleasant morning on the Sunday. 

The meeting started at 11.30 AM with Tamil Thai Valthu. Followed by Welcome address given by Ms. G. Saranya (EP), she addressed CS Santhanam, Secretary of Salem Chapter of ICSI and Student Association members.

Mr. R. Kathiravan (EP) read out the brief report about association and minutes of previous meet.

Mr. N. Nagakumar gave seminar on the topic “Central Excise Act 1944 “, it was an excellent one.

Mr. M. Harish was elected as chairman and Ms M. Sri Vidya was elected as treasurer of SACS-Salem

CS Santhanam, Secretary of Salem Chapter of ICSI gave his general view about Central Excise Act 1944 and apart from that he encouraged the students to participate in seminars and to develop their talents and skills.

Ms. Sri Vidhya (EP) gave away Vote of Thanks.

The meet was concluded at 1.30 PM with High-tea.

CRASH COURSE IN SIRC OF ICSI, CHENNAI

CRASH COURSE ON ADVANCED TAX LAWS AND PRACTICE – JUNE 2011 EXAM


SIRC OF THE ICSI is conducting Crash Course on ADVANCED TAX LAWS AND PRACTICE on Saturday and Sunday, the 30th April, 2011 and 1st May 2011. The details are given below:


Day and Dates : Saturday and Sunday, the 30th April, 2011 and 1st May 2011


Timings : 10.00 A.M to 1.00 P.M and 2.00 P.M to 4.00 P.M


Venue : ICSI-SIRC Office, No.9 Wheat Crofts Road

Objective:


This course is mainly intended for the Professional Programme Students appearing in the June 2011 examination. The paper on Advanced Tax Laws and Practice has 13 chapters (both direct and indirect taxation). Students require proper exposure to the subject and in particular to the tools and techniques employed therein. The course would be highly focused to deal with the subject strictly from the examina

tion point of view.


Methodology:


The course will be a combination of lecture and class room exercise, so as to give the students required level of confidence to face the examination boldly.


Fee:

Inviting suggestions for revision of syllabus

Dear Member,

India is a vibrant and emerging economy on the global map which has recorded approximately 8.7 percent growth rate in GDP during 2010-11. Indian Economy is being taken to a higher orbit so as to attain the developed nation status by 2020 which is hardly a decade away. Indian businesses- particularly corporate professionals such as Company secretary have a special role to play in this common endeavour.

The syllabus revision is a continuous process followed in an educational /professional institution with an objective to enrich the academic contents and to provide practical exposure in relevant areas in the light of increasing expectations of different stakeholders ie industry, regulators, banks, financial institutions and society.
